District and State

Each season, swimmers from the Boronia Swimming Club have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events from junior encouragement competitions through to State Championship meets. So whether you're a beginner or a rising swimming star, these events will spur you on to your full potential!

7-10 Encouragement

For swimmers aged 7 - 10 years, held in October each year at Nunawading pool. The ten fastest qualifiers in the eliminations will progress through to the finals to be held in November each year at MSAC.

All Juniors

For swimmers aged 8 - 14 years, held in February each year at Nunawading pool. Individual medal winners in events from the State Championships or State Sprints are excluded from swimming in this competition in the stroke for the age group in which the medal was won. The ten fastest swimmers in eliminations will progress through to the semi finals to be held at MSAC in March each year and the ten fastest swimmers in the semis will progress through to the finals to be held at MSAC the next day.

Target Meetings

The club selects a number of meets throughout the season to attend as a club, and all swimmers are encouraged to enter. Many swim meets are conducted over the year across metropolitan and country Victoria. Swimmers are encouraged and may enter any other meets. These meets are advertised in the "Penguin Chatter" newsletter and posted on the back of the noticeboard on pool deck. See the Swim Director for more information on how to enter &/or Swimming Victoria entry cards.

District Competition Details

District Interclub

Boronia Swimming Club is part of the Dandenong Ranges District Swimming Association (District East). Throughout the season, swimmers compete against other clubs within the district in both individual and relay competitions. Competitions are held over several Friday nights, at various pools in the District. A list is placed on the noticeboard in the week leading up to the competition and swimmers are asked to place their name on this list if they are available to swim. Teams are selected on the basis of this list by the Team Managers. If you put your name on this list, you will be placed in club events (it will be your responsibility to arrive at the appropriate venue on time)

District Aggregate

An encouragement competition run by the District for junior swimmers at the start of each District Interclub Meet. Swimmers compete in two individual 50m events at each Interclub in Male & Female age groups 8/U, 9, 10, 11 years with points awarded for the top eight placings.

District Championships

Held in February/March each year. Swimmers must qualify by participating in at least three District events over the season. Successful swimmers from these Championships are eligible to be selected to represent the District in Swimming Victoria's Interdistrict competition and also to represent the District on a trip interstate.

State Championships

To be eligible to compete swimmers must have swum a State Qualifying time at a recognised state qualifying meet in the previous twelve months. State Championships are held in December and January each year depending on age. For information regarding State Qualifying times please, see the Notice board.
